Khainag grooming habits, domestic hybrid yak-cow on the steppes, west of Olgii, Western Mongolia

The people of the steppes of Western Mongolia are primarily herdsmen of goats, sheep, yaks, Khainag, Bactrian camels and horses and their diet is very high in meat and fermented milk, with some noodles, but few vegetables. Khainag is the Mongolian name for a domestic hybrid between a cow and a yak. They have hybrid vigor and produce more milk and meat than either the cow or the yak. The male hybrids are sterile, but the females are fertile.
