View ESE of Dun Fiadhairt Iron Age broch, Isle of Skye, Scotland, UK, showing the main entrance (front), central court & narrow secondary entrance (rear L). It is unusual for a broch to have two entrances; the main entrance passage has two door checks & a guard cell on either side. A gallery between the walls on the S (R) side of the broch is accessed from the secondary entrance passage. The circular central court measures c across within a double wall c thick still standing up to 2m high. The broch was excavated in 1914 by Countess Vincent Baillet de Latour FSA (Scot), a Roman terracotta model of a bale of hides or fleeces was found.
