The Thielenbrücke, Thielen road bridge over the Landwehr canal built 1915 to 1917 in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Berlin. Reinforced concrete with Franconian shell limestone facade The Bridge connects Pannierstrasse in Neukölln with Glogauer Strasse in Kreuzberg. It is a listed building and was named after the Prussian Minister of Public Works Karl von Thielen. This was the last bridge constructed under the supervision of city building officer Friedrich Krause. The structural details were worked out by his department and an external architect Otto Michaelsen was commissioned for the artistic design . Since 2010 there has been a weight limit of 18 tons for vehicles on the Thielenbrücke. The Berlin Senate plans an extention of the tram route from Warschauer Straße station to Hermannplatz. The planned route would cross the bridge that will have to be rebuilt or reinforced to carry extra weight. literature
