Rector came to Rush County and began topresent the claims of this new order, near Homer, and succeededin establishing a church on the farm of Mr. Sells. They have aneat and comfortable house erected at the point where the organi-zation was effected, and a membership of ninetv. The leadingministers of this church are F. Price, S. Watts, H. Ellis, and O. ^. RELIGIOUS HISTORY. 537 P. Abbott, who now ministers to them. They pay $250 for min-isterial services for one-fourth time. The}- number among theirmembership the leading citizens of the community—the most ac-tive members of society, and feel that they have done no wrong indivorcing themselves from the mother organization, because theyconsidered themselves politicallj ostracized. While, as the}^ con-sidered, they could not live without religious influence and devotionto God, they could live without the protection and guidance of thatbody which constantly ignored them because of their political is but the one organization of this order in the county so faras known to the writer.
