Nova Scotia had its apostle in WilliamBlack, a Yorkshireman by birth, whoarrived in the colony in the year 1775when a lad of fifteen. His parents wereearnest Christians, and belonged to a setof good Yorkshire Methodists, who, indefault of regular preachers, and in asparsely settled district, kept alive re-ligion by frequent prayer-meetings andfriendly religious gatherings. Blacksusefulness began in his nineteenth year,when light broke in upon him. Hestarted a revival, which led to the organ-ization of large classes, numbering fouror five score. At this time he was en-couraged by letters from Wesley, and ex-pected to proceed to England to attendKingswood School. Disappointed in. EAST BAY, ST.
