Snout a little longer than eye in adult, a little shorter in young; eye perfectly lateral, 3^ (young) to 4| times in length of head, I^ to 2 times in interorbital width; nostrils close together; prseoperculum denticulate ; mouth extending to below anterior third of eye ; maxillary hidden; upper lip rather thick; 3 or 4 series of scales on the cheek.
