Foot muscles. Computer artwork of a view from below of some of the muscles and tendons (red and white) of the sole of the foot. The flexor hallucis brevis muscle arises from the midfoot region and attaches to the big toe, while next to this is the oblique head of the adductor hallucis muscle that also attaches to the big toe. The transverse head of the adductor hallucis muscle runs across the toes at the end of the metatarsals. The flexor digiti minimi brevis muscle runs along the metatarsal of the little toe, attaching to the toe's first phalanx. The left foot (right) includes some of the ligaments (white) joining the bones.
