Chateau de Fougeres-sur-Bievre, entrance gate

Originally built in 1030, the castle was destroyed by the English in 1429 and then rebuilt in 1470. It was subsequently altered in 1510 to 1520. It is a classic medieval small fortified castle. This picture shows the entrance to the inner courtyard, where once there was a drawbridge.
