( x cm), Prints, Utagawa Hiroshige (Japanese, Tokyo (Edo) 1797–1858 Tokyo (Edo)), This print represents people crossing the Great Sanjo Bridge over the Kamo River in Kyoto, the imperial capital and the terminal of the Tokaido. Hiroshige includes Kyoto women, both Oharame, women from the nearby town of Ohara, who carry goods on their heads to sell, and also upper-class ladies veiling their heads with an outer garment called a katsugi
