The parched fields near Stansted,Essex,on Wednesday August 1st 2108 after the heatwave this farmers are holding a Drought Summit with the government. The National Farmers' Union (NFU) will meet officials in London today (Wed) to discuss "tinderbox" conditions that have reduced grass growth and "depleted" some yields. NFU president Minette Batters said she will try to impress on Environment Secretary Michael Gove at the "hugely important" talks the challenges farmers are facing following the severe lack of rain.
