Jacob enriches himself with sheep from Laban's flock, Crispijn van de Passe (I), 1700 - 1750, Jacob has put peeled off branches in the sheep's drinking troughs to ensure that the white sheep will give birth to variegated young. In doing so, he deceives Laban who has agreed with him that he will receive all the variegated animals as wages (Gen. 30:37). He watches as the sheep eat the branches.
