Terra Mariae . ollege for a good many oaks, however, from little acorns grow. The one room practicallyvoid of equipment, which in 1892 sheltered the Departments of Agricultureand Horticulture, has developed into splendidly equipped laboratories, andfor the two men who then bore the brunt of the struggle, there is now a corpsof twenty-four thoroughly trained scientific experts who in mentality, attain-ments and teaching ability compare most favorably with men in similar posi-tions in any institutions of learning in the country. This is shown by theachievements of our students when they come into competition with those ofother colleges of agriculture, as in the judging contest at the National DairyShow, where in 1919 and again in 1920 two out of three highest places injudging butter and cheese were won by the University of Maryland men. Atthe same Show in 1920 the Ayrshire trophy cup was awarded to a team madeup of other men from the University of Maryland. ?One hundred and seventv-sevcn. Faculty—College of Agriculture p. \V.
