The Tumac Foundation has been working for 50 years to preserve the traditional knowledge of Afro-descendant communities in the Colombian South Pacific; through dance, music and the manufacture of instruments typical of this region: conunos, bass drums, guasas and marimbas built with native woods of the region. Since its beginnings, it has operated as a workshop-school, with a methodology that they have called "from child to child", where master luthiers share their knowledge free of charge to apprentices, who, in turn, share it with each other, in a process that For 4 generations it has trained teachers, luthiers, dancers and musicians and today they replicate their knowledge and methodology not only in Tumaco but also in other municipalities of the country.
