Demand is fairly good. Carnations run along like roses, heavy in supply and little de- mand. Some nice orchids are coming in. Valley is fine, also lilies. These alone hold up their price. Prices on all other stock, including chrysanthe- mums, have been lower than in any previous year. Asparagus and smilax, also fancy ferns, have a large sale. Various Notes. The St. Louis Press Club entertained October 30, in its new quarters in the Eailway Exchange building. The club- rooms were handsomely decorated with autumn leaves, pumpkins, corn shocks and yellow and white chrysanthemums, which greatly impressed the visitors as they entered. A. G. Greiner says he had a fine sea- son in the sale of cactus plants. The sale of California privet has been heavy this fall. Young plants are scarce, as the dry summer killed them off, and 2-year-old plants only are ob- tainable. Ostertag Bros, put in a busy week supplying visitors to the horse show with cut chrysanthemums. Their store is close to the big Coliseum, where the show was held October 31 all hands were bus
