Part III. also one of the noblest structures in Dublin: it consists of a square of 140 feet, presenting afront of six Corinthian pillars, supporting a circular lantern and magnificent dome. Thequay is ornamented by the Custom-house, of which the front is entirely of Portland stone,embellished with a Doric colonnade, and extending 375 feet. The Post Office, in SackvilleStreet, is extensive and magnificent, with a front of 223 feet, adorned with an Ionic porticoof Portland stone; the main structure is of granite. In the centre of Sackville Street, isthe moniuncnt erected to Nelson; an object by no means ornamental. The inns of court,the theatre, the half-finished Roman Catholic metropolitan chapel, and several other churchesand chapels, with many of the hospitals, may be mentioned as adding to the architecturalsplendour of Dublin.
