Dr. Kurt Erasmus, writing in New York on November 4, 1910, said of thiscanvas: The portrait of a man spoken of in R. Oldenhourgs book, Thomas deKeysers Activities as a Painter, and pictured in the said l)ook, is a very fine workof Thomas de Keyser. It is so natural, and in sj)lendid condition. On November 24, 1910, Dr. W. R. She is strikingly clad in bright red, which emphasizesher ample figure, the gown being cut with elbow sleeves whichfinish with white lace and an orange-brown band and whiteundersleeves. Her stout arms fold in front of her, the handsjust overlapping. The brown of the sleeve band is repeatedin ornamental lines leading to the point of the bodice, and thewaist is further adorned by striped and colored laces enfold-ing the shoulders and bust and accentuated by transparentwhite lace re
