The first half of March, 1916, was very cold, with high winds and muchsnow. A Holboells Grebe was brought to me the i6th that was found on thesnow in an orchard. I fed it scraps of beef and minnows, but it survived only afew days. Another Grebe was in the channel the 19th. It was very cold, thethermometer registering only a few degrees above zero, and the open area in 414 Bird-L
