With the commu-nity came a carpenter, a blacksmith, a mason, a tailor, a shoe-maker and a cabinet maker, which enabled them to live almost whollyupon their own resources. Some of them had considerable money, oneof the wealthiest being John Salingre, who brought over about $20, kindness and generosity to his less fortunate neighbors in the newcountry are gratefully remembered.
