The runningof the jumper wires on the main distributing frame is made some-what more convenient, because of the absence of the arrester strips, which are often of such nature as to somewhat crowd the work ofsoldering the jumper wires. Of course, this latter method has the disadvantage of requiringmore arresters—that is, one for every street conductor. It alsorequires more room on account of the extra rack for mounting thearresters. Although each of the three methods has its advocates amongcompetent engineers, the consensus of opinion seems to be stronglyin favor of the method wherein the arresters are carried on theswitch-board side of the main distributing frame. Practice differs to a considerable extent
