For more than twentyyears he was a member and senior official ofthe Church of the Pilgrims in Brooklyn, Richard Storrs, pastor. He was a man ofscholarly attainments, and every Sunday wasaccustomed until his ninetieth year to read achapter of the Greek Testament, while in thesummer he reread Virgil. Until he enteredhis ninety-sixth year he retained remarkablephysical activity, suffering no impairment ofsight or hearing, and with unimpaired intellect,riding a horse at ninety-two 6lW(MaL, L.
