Sea lilies (Oxycomanthus sp.) on a coral reef. Sea lilies, or crinoids, (centre right and lower centre) have feathery arms which trap food particles from the water. The particles are then passed to the mouth along the arms. Sea lilies are sessile, remaining in one place for their whole adult lives, bonded to their substrate by a stalk.
