, Nancy, Departement Meurthe-et-Moselle, France - Stanislas Leszczynski monument at the Place Stanislas. Leszczynski was a Polish king for the first time between 1704 and 1709 in place of Augustus II the Strong. In 1733 Stanislas was elected a Polish king again, yet he couldn't win through in the war for succession to the throne and he was forced to emigrate. After his abdication he was compensated with the Duchies of Lorraine and Bar. Thanks to him, an outstanding cultural life developed in the Lorraine Province. Nancy owes this man the most beautiful squares in Europe, the Stanislaw Square named after him, the Place de la Carriere and the Place d'Alliance, which was listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site List in 1983.
