H.—Pa. Sow the solanum seed now. At the proper time prick them off into flats; then pot them off singly. They should be gradually hardened and planted out- doors early in May. Field-grown sola- nums are better in every way than pot- grown ones. Such fibrous-rooted bego- nias as Gloire de Chatelaine, Vernon, La Vesuve and Erfordii should be sown as soon as possible; also, Impatiens Sul- tani. The last-named is not exactly a Christmas plant, however, being at its best when the weather is warmest and being easily chilled in winter. C. W.
