From A. caeca, A. gonavensis may be distinguished in the possession of two scales in the first and second rows of postgenials (versus three for caeca). Gonavensis also differs from caeca in having enlarged precloacal scales forming a dis- tinct convex flap as opposed to the relatively undifferentiated precloacals of caeca, and in heraipenial structure (see discus- sion)..
