EXTERIOR OF LATEST POWER PLANT OF THE JACKSON RAILWAY, LIGHT & POWER COMPANY habitants, is conducted on about fifteen miles of track bythe Jackson Electric Railway, Light & Power Company. Anew steam turbine power plant is rapid-ly approaching completion on the com-panys property on Tombigbee Street,.and when all the machinery is installedthe station will be one of the mostmodern steam plants in the South. Forsome months the plant has been carry-ing the companys load, but owing tochanges in the turbine and condenserlayout the completion of the plant isstill a matter of some weeks. The new plant is located about halfa mile from the business center of thecity and injection water for the con-densing system is drawn from a wellcarried down into the old bed of thePearl River. Coal is brought to thestation in cars by a special spur trackof the Illinois Central Railroad, andthe cars are hauled up a grade of about10 per cent to the level of a coal pocketdistributing track ad
