Bridge construction. This is the construction of the Usk River Bridge, Newport, Wales. This road bridge is a bowstring arch design. The cables that hang from the two arches support the road beneath. The bridge is 190 metres long, allowing traffic to cross the River Usk, relieving congestion on the surrounding roads. As a key part of the Southern Distributor Road project, it is also known as the SDR Bridge. It was completed in June 2004.
