Car windscreen testing. Shattered windscreen during post-production testing for car windscreens. The windscreen has been treated with a laminating material called polyvinyl butyral (PVB). This is a thin plastic layer that is sandwiched between two layers of glass. The lamination layer is a safety feature, ensuring that if the windscreen is broken, the glass does not shatter, but is held in place by the plastic layer, as shown here.
