Bambridge on Trial for Murder by a committee of the House of Commons Engraved by S Bull after Hogarth from The Works of Hogarth published London 1833. Thomas Bambridge who died circa 1750 was a warden of Fleet prison London. His abuse of prisoners led to the House of Commons investigation pictured here and he was subsequently imprisoned himself. In the picture he is standing on the far left. The central kneeling figure is a prisoner giving evidence.
