Mention The Berlew when job write. Greenhouse Heating. MATERIAL FOS SMOKESTACK. I should like to have the opinion of some of the growers as to what is the best kind of smokestack to erect. Steel stacks are all right as long as they last, but they do not seem to be dura- ble. Sewer tile has been recommended to me for the purpose and I should like to hear, through the columns of The Review, from anyone who has had experience with the tile. J. W. I. In selecting the material for a smokestack, a good deal will depend upon the size of stack to be built. For large stacks, with an inside diameter of three feet and upwards, I would generally use reinforced con- crete and it might also be used for, stacks considerably smaller. While sewer pipe might be used for the upper part of the stack, if less than sixteen inches in diameter, I would build up a base either of brick or concrete, to the height of four to six feet above the point where the smoke pipe will enter.
