A most desirable shrub either for planting in the open border or for growing in pots as a decorative spring-floweiing plant, like the well-known Genista Fragrans and Kacemosa that are grown so extensively for Easter decorations ; but unlike those varieties, which are entirely yellow, the flowers of this new variety, which are nearly four times as large, are produced in large branches, the lower lip a bright yellow, the upper one a rich brownish crimson. Dieul de Mirabel. This is unquestionably the finest single scarlet yet introduced ; foot stalks 15 inches long, bearing enormous trusses of immense circular florets of a velvety crimson scarlet.
