Schizophrenia drug. Tablet of the schizophrenia drug Seroquel, which contains the active ingredient quetiapine. This is an atypical antipsychotic drug used to treat schizophrenia. It works by blocking receptors in the brain for the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin, the over-activity of which is associated with schizophrenia. Seroquel may also be used to treat bipolar disorder, anxiety and insomnia.
