The five sailed Hoyle's Mill in Alford Lincolnsire circa 1837


The mill was built by Sam Oxley an Alford millwright in 1837. It has five sails and six floors with an external gallery on the third floor. There are four pairs of stones, three for grinding provender and one for grinding wheat flour. The mill was renovated back into commercial working order by Lincolnshire County Council.
