In this case, they will be spaced, 13^inches in diameter and they will be pitched 8 to the cir-cumference. The hole for the dry pipe will be shown on a specialdrawing and in this case would perhaps be 10 inches, hav-ing the greater part of the sheet beveled off for a balljoint. All the rivet holes shown in this sheet can bepunched. Those shown in the tube sheet ring, if they arerivets, would also be punched to suit. If they were tapped, which is frequently done, the holes would have to bepunched small enough to ream out and tap. The sametap would also extend into the ring. The holes for theeighty rivets in the flange will be laid off after the sheetis flanged and turned off along the outer edge. The tubesheet is to fit a 64-inch diameter and the circumferencecorresponding to this is This must be punchedon the sheet so that when it is flanged, the rim can be made to suit this figure. 43 The smoke box The Smoke Box Sheet. The smoke box sheet shown on Plate 4 is laid out in*detail in Fig. 15. This sheet has a liner in the bottom forthe purpose of strengthening the sheet of the boiler-at thispoint, for connection to the cylinder. The front end of theboiler has a wrought iron ring riveted as shown. Theback end is attached to the sheet shown in Fig. 13. Re-ferring to the drawing, the inside diameter of this sheetis 6y7/16 inches and the sheet being y> inch thick, theneutral diameter will be 6y15/16. The circumference willbe found from the table thus: 67 dia. = circumference15/16 dia. = circumference 67 15/16 dia. == circumference In Fig. 15 this sheet is shown with the usual allow-ance for trimming up the edges. Draw a line along thelower edge of this sheet from one end to the other, allow-ing about y$ of an inch for planing. The width of thesheet is 633^ inc
