Bill Bryden was a hugely influential and visionary film director, writer and theatrical producer. He was highly regarded and is a great loos to the Scottish arts scene with his passing. His 2 theatrical productions, The Ship and The Big Picnic, were staged in Glasgow, down by the River Clyde; not in a theatre, but a disused ship yard where the audience walked round with the actors as they performed.
