Nipple reconstruction surgery. Image 11 of 13. Surgeon removing breast epidermis from around a reconstructured nipple. A skin flap on the female patient's breast was used to form the false nipple. Once the epidermis has been removed, skin from the patient's thigh will be used to form an areola. The patient lost her right nipple during surgery to remove a tumour (lumpectomy).
