View S of a rectangular blast shelter with a sloping grassy roof near the top of the V2 Incline, Vivian Quarry, Llanberis, Wales, UK. Black powder was packed into holes drilled into the vertical working faces of the slate, then blown using a long fuse. Quarrymen would take cover in a variety of drystone-built shelters during blasting; doors were positioned pointing away from the quarry faces. Part of the Vivian Quarry Trails in the Padarn Country Park. The Dinorwig Slate Quarry Mountain Landscape is part of The Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales which became the UK's 32nd UNESCO World Heritage Site on 28 July 2021.
