Belastoma insect, Cueva de Villa Luz. This aquatic insect is a predator, feeding on smaller invertebrates. This specimen is from the Cueva de Villa Luz (Cave of the Lighted House) in southern Mexico. The waters in this cave are rich in hydrogen sulphide, forming the basis of a chemical food chain and ecosystem, rather than one based on sunlight.
