Farmers using machines on the banks of Surma River in Masuganj Bazar area of Sylhet. Due to polythene floating in the water of the riverbank, the operation of the machine is also hampered. Polythene is being dumped indiscriminately into the river which fills the riverbed and destroys the fertility of the soil besides filling the river. This is a threat to agriculture along the river.
