A special lamp socket has recently been placed on themarket by the General Electric Company, which should provevery attractive to managers of amusement resorts and electricrailways who suffer lamp losses by petty thievery or byjarring from car fixtures. In the old style of locking socket the lamp was held rigidin the socket, and attempts to remove it generally resulted in. A Locking Lamp Socket. breaking the globe. In the new style the screw shell turnsfreely and the lamp cannot be removed until the shell is un-locked with the key. The socket is shown in the accompanying illustration, and it should be noted that the addition of the locking featurehas been made without detracting in any way from the neatappearance of the standard socket. This locking socket should also appeal to those who hadcontemplated using the higher priced tantalum and tungstenlamps, but who had deferred doing so on account of the extrainducements offered to the sneak thief.
