A small German war chest,17th century. Rectangular,iron trunk with surrounding reinforcement straps and raised button shaped rivets. The lid has a central keyhole with a shell-shaped cover. Lock with seven bolts and the original hollow shank key. Rich openwork cover plate with vine decoration. Front side has an elaborate cover plate for a fake keyhole. Moveable handle on each side. On four,slightly flattened ball feet.
