Black Castle Fort, Newlands, Gifford, East Lothian, Scotland, UK, Looking westwards from B6355 road near Darent house, over moorland and arable fields with yellow flowers of Rape. The fort is marked by a stand of trees which had been felled by 2023 leaving the area of the fort clear, but the plantation 'Black Castle Woods' to the left has been replanted with conifers. A well preserved circular Iron Age fort, 110m im diameter, with twin ramparts separated by a ditch. Two entrances each with causeways across the ditch.
