5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (March 27, 2018) Marines with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) conduct visual scans during the transit of the Suez Canal aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), March 27, 2018. The 26th MEU and Iwo Jima amphibious ready group are deployed to the 5th Fleet of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
