Fragaria vesca, the UK's edible wild strawberry is common and found in woodland clearings, disused railway embankments, roadside verges and wasteland. The sweet delicate red fruit with external seeds are also known as woodland strawberries or fraise de bois. The fruit follows white flowers and the trefoil leaves are glossy with hairy undersides and toothed edges.
