Latvia, Riga, A protest procession against the underfunding of education and medicine, a rally of many thousands on the Dome Square in Riga, organized by the Latvian Trade Union of Education and Science Workers (LIZDA). All types of educational institutions and all regions of Latvia are represented in mass protests. Doctors, as well as colleagues from Lithuania and Estonia, joined the teachers. Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (pictured) came out to the protesters. Participants from the regions of Latvia stated that they also oppose the optimization of the school network in rural areas.
