Oblique beach view, north to South Pier, Big One Rollercoaster, Pleasure Beach, New South promenade, Blackpool Illuminations


The 'Big One Rollercoaster' opened 28 May 1994 at a cost of £12 million. The highest point seen here, right of shot, rises 65m (213 feet) above the ground, having a drop of 62 m (205 feet) and an incline of 65 degrees. Trains, each capable of carrying 30 people, attain speeds of 74 mph (119 km/h) in a ride lasting three minutes. When opened, the 'Big One' was the tallest and steepest rollercoaster in the world, and one of the fastest. With a length of 1675m (5,497 ft) the ride is also one of the longest. Three trains can travel at any one time. Night beach view, north towards the South Pier, towards the rollercoaster's high point along the South Shore Ocean Boulevard.
