A British Dutch Barn painted green

British Dutch Barns began to appear on farms around 1880. Traditionally, they were intended to provide cover over hay and straw, but provide ventilation by having open sides. Typically they were made of corrugated iron. This barn is a later model as it has an asbestos roof and is enclosed making it ideal for animal housing and storage. Situated on the edge of the farm yard the green colour enables it to blend with the landscape.
