View of northern piers of Carlisle Bridge (also known as Lune Bridge) which carries the West Coast Main line railway over the River Lune at Lancaster. It was built as part of the Lancaster & Carlisle Railway designed by Joseph Locke opening in 1847. The river spans were rebuilt in composite steel and concrete construction in 1962-1963.
