Packhorse Beggars Bridge (1619) over the River Esk at Glaisdale on the North York Moors


Beggars Bridge is a single arch packhorse bridge crossing the River Esk at Glaisdale on the North York Moors. Built in 1619 by Tom Ferris, a wealthy merchant, with roughly coursed sandstone spanning over 15m. At the centre of the bridge parapet is a date stone, 1619, with the initials of Tom Ferris engraved in it. The bridge is Listed Grade II.
