Hill of the Cross from where an arrow was shot by Stephen the Great to decide Putna monastery s position Romania


Putna monastery is the site of Stephen the Great's grave. Story goes that Daniil the hermit fired an arrow from the mountain top of Crucisorul Hill of the Cross (behind) . It was completed in 1469. Eminescu's bust can be found in the grounds. This site is on the World Heritage List and is UNESCO protected. This site is a source of national pride. Stephan the Great won many battles during his rule and was considered possibly the strongest ruler.
