Two fillets of mackerel, Scomber scombrus, that have been dipped in flour and batter and deep fried to make a homemade mackerel burger. The mackerel were caught on rod and line from a boat in the English Channel. Mackerel are an oily fish and a source of omega 3 fish oils. In the UK eating mackerel has been encouraged as a cheaper and more sustainable alternative to other species. The fillets are seen here served on a brown roll with sald, tomato and tartare sauce.
